The current state of independent price verification within many firms however is a reliance on ad-hoc manual processes for calculation and reporting. An extensive range of end-user developed applications and spreadsheets are employed across multiple teams often in inconsistent fashion to get the job done.

The task of compiling  all positions, calculations, variances, exceptions, explanations and adjustments into a coherent report requires major effort and is error-prone.

A disproportionate amount of time is spent on copy and paste and number crunching, affording product controllers little time for proper analysis and investigation of P&L and valuation issues.
